The Gołuchów commune belongs to the province of Wielkopolska, the second largest region in the country in terms of area and the third largest in terms of population. The commune is part of the Leszno administrative district (powiat). Gołuchów plays an important role in the south-eastern part of Wielkopolska. It is situated by the road connecting Poznań and Łódź, 17 kilometres from Kalisz and 12 kilometres from Pleszew. The overall area of the commune amounts to 135.45 km2, out of which 90.9 per cent are farmland and woodland. Buildings, roads, rivers, lakes and wasteland occupy the remaining 9.1 per cent of the area. The commune has a population of 9900. Gołuchów and Kościelna Wieś are the most densely populated villages, both having over 2000 inhabitants. |

The commune, consisting of 23 villages, shares its southern border with Kalisz and the northern one with Pleszew. It borders on the Prosna river to the east and Nowe Slamierzyce and Ostrów Wielkopolski to the west. Convenient road connection with Poznań, Wrocław and Łódź enables the companies to efficiently manage their logistics. The road network is well developed. Country road number 11, connecting Poznań and Katowice and country road number 12, connecting Poznań and Łódź, cut across the area. The commune is within easy reach of two international airports: one in Poznań (99 kilometres away) and one in Wrocław (116 kilometres away). Gołuchów also has a good connection with three European capitals. The distances from Gołuchów to Warsaw, Berlin and Prague are approximately the same, ranging from 300 to 350 kilometres. |
